How We Do

How we do

Works

In order to enable individuals, groups and communities to develop confidence, understanding, skills and knowledge that is required to influence change, TAHEA Mwanza includes programs that enable the community groups to provide and manage services to meet community needs. We also strengthen the ability of community groups to build their structures, systems, people skills so that they are better able to define and achieve their objectives and engage in planning, management of community projects and take part in partnerships and community enterprises. This includes aspects of training, organizational and personal development and resource building. ‘In this way we create community of practice where we create community resource people’.
We integrate services for effectiveness in addressing community needs as they are interrelated, when you talk of education, the community members need to be healthy, and in order to be healthy, people need good nutrition, protection from all harms and all these services need knowledgeable community members and good systems which support their development.
TAHEA works with existing local government structures and systems at all level in the implementation of programs in order to enhance community ownership for sustainability of interventions. Working through systems enables both boundary partners and stakeholders to understand, implement, and internalize the processes that occur to bring change in different aspects of development that in turn transform the target beneficiaries’ behaviors and practices that negatively impact their lives.

TAHEA Mwanza mainstreams HIV/ AIDS, gender, environment and culture in programs that we implement, since we understand income growth is essential to support the basic needs of families and communities, we have micro finance activities as synergies to program implementation. The realization that youth unemployment and climate change are also emerging as road blocks to implementing successful interventions in resource poor communities, TAHEA Mwanza has opted to invest in youth’s leadership and development. Climate change as another stumbling block has become a key area of discussion on how to mitigate measures during planning with the communities.
TAHEA uses evidence from research, mini-studies, baselines and successful models to inform our interventions, while we embrace culturally and contextually innovative solutions to problems. TAHEA Mwanza accommodates learning during implementation as an additional valuable input to projects and programs. TAHEA Mwanza further supports interventions by increasing data collection, analysis and documentation for continuous improvement of our programs
TAHEA Mwanza being a professional NGO, it provides services on behalf of other implementers/ actors to share our accumulated skills and knowledge in implementing community-based projects/ programs by playing the role of facilitators/ trainers and partnership activities.
