Transforming Communities, One Family at a Time.
The Tanzania Home Economics Association (TAHEA) Mwanza Chapter is a professional nongovernment women-led organization established in 1980, with renewed NGO registration in 2022 as Tanzania Home Economics Organization (TAHEA).
TAHEA Mwanza Core Programmatic Pillars
We implement integrated programs across four pillars, anchored in the central theme of Empowered Families.
01
Early Childhood Development & Education
Equitable access and gender transformative early learning opportunities for girls and boys 0-5 years. School readiness, play-based learning and after school literacy/numeracy support to ensure successful school completion for both girls and boys. Parenting skills and family-centered care environments
02
Economic Empowerment & Livelihoods
Support families and community members—especially women and young people—through Community Managed Micro Finance Initiatives. Promote income generation, job creation, and investment in family wellbeing and assets. Advocate for land acquisition and tenure, inclusive climate-resilient construction, and the use of Appropriate Building Technologies.
03
Food Security & Climate-Resilient Agriculture
Strengthen food security, income generation, and nutrition in resource-poor communities. Support smallholder farmers—especially women and young people—in adopting climate-resilient crops. Promote agro-ecology practices through technology transfer, improved seed systems, post-harvest management, and value addition.
04
Health
and
Nutrition
Promote health and nutrition, especially for children, adolescents, and women. Strengthen health systems to deliver a range of preventive and curative services. Advocate for resilience, accessibility, and health equity by ensuring consistent access to quality care for all.
