The programme targets active poor men, women, young people and groups with the aim of reducing poverty and justice and promote the construction of democratic society with gender equality. TAHEA Mwanza seeks to work with other stakeholder to improve rural housing in Mwanza regional.
TAHEA Mwanza work with young people, women, community groups, individual families, and Community managed groups and supports the growth of housing sector that are self-managed in Mwanza Region. The housing model requires active participation of the members in the construction and maintenance of buildings and also in the management of their housing.
We train community to defend and demand their right to adequate housing. Also lobby those in power, demanding public housing subsidies, access to land, security of tenure and access to finance for the people of poorer socio-economic levels.
Today, approximately three million Tanzanian people lack access to housing solutions that meet these criteria, making it difficult to exercise other human rights such as health care, education, work and citizenship
