In Buhunda village, the cost of missing basic school supplies can be devastating. One caregiver shared the painful story of her granddaughter:

“She dropped out in Form Two. She didn’t have socks, exercise books, or other school needs. That’s when she was seduced into a relationship. Parents sometimes contribute to dropout—especially for girls—when they can’t provide what’s needed at home or school. It makes girls vulnerable to offers they later regret.”

This story reveals how poverty and lack of parental support can push girls into risky situations, cutting short their education and exposing them to harm. TAHEA Mwanza works to prevent this through school support programs, family counseling, and advocacy that helps girls stay safe and in school.
