TAHEA Mwanza integrates a participatory, adaptive approach to Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) across all programs. Our MEL framework ensures that community voices, evidence, and reflection drive decisions at every level.

We believe that the true measure of success lies not only in what we do, but in how learning is used to improve programs, strengthen accountability, and influence systems.

Our MEL Strategy Is Built On:

  • Participation and Ownership: Engaging beneficiaries, local leaders, and partners in setting indicators, collecting data, and analyzing change.
  • Timely, Actionable Data: Routine data collection tools (surveys, checklists, observation guides) inform monthly and quarterly reviews.
  • Evidence-Driven Learning: Mid-year and annual learning sessions are conducted with project teams and communities to adapt interventions.
  • Strategic Oversight: A Strategic Plan Review Committee tracks implementation and progress, ensuring the alignment of outcomes with vision.

Core MEL Activities

  • Baseline Studies conducted in each new project area using mixed-method approaches.
  • Annual Outcome Harvesting to track shifts in behavior, systems, and practice.
  • Participatory Reflection and Learning Cycles (PRLCs) with community stakeholders.
  • Social Accountability Monitoring (SAM) to assess the responsiveness of government and service providers.
  • Documentation and Knowledge Sharing to influence scale and policy.

Evaluation Milestones

  • Mid-Term Review (2023): A formal external evaluation to assess effectiveness, relevance, and areas for adaptation.
  • Final Evaluation (2025): To evaluate outcomes, capture lessons learned, and guide future planning.
  • Strategic Learning Partnerships. We collaborate with universities, research institutions, and peer NGOs to generate evidence and strengthen MEL systems.
  • Through MEL, TAHEA Mwanza ensures continuous improvement, stronger accountability to communities and donors, and meaningful, lasting change.
