Achieving gender equality through Early Childhood Development (ECD) is a project which seeks to improve developmental outcomes for young children 0 – 4 years by addressing traditional childcare practices which impact girls and women as primary childcare providers, putting the lives of young children at risk of not developing to their full potential. The project uses community driven systems change approach for development by putting the community (the affected) on “the driver’s seat”, giving opportunity to assess their own situation, identifying challenges, deciding on the solutions and lead the change process to bring about their own development. The project is being implemented in the smallholder mining communities of Buhunda Ward in Misungwi district of Mwanza region.
