TAHEA Mwanza in implementing its program, engaging local government is one of our priorities. We believe engaging stakeholders helps to send our message to the government, create sustainability of our program, help us to reach even more people but be in a current professional perspective with our country rules.
In the early childhood development activities, the engagement of local government officials has been at high levels especially due to our new model in the project of expanding early childhood development services through community-based organizations. In the model, there is involvement of local government officials as we believe they play a key role in giving message in different places but also creating a sense of push to other officials.
When we prepare the trainings to increase and strengthen the understanding of early childhood development practices we also encourage local government to participate so that they see new perspectives in the field, as from the new perspectives they can see what is lacking currently in the field.
After three months we met Judith Jonathan who is the Social welfare officer of Ilemela district, to see whether there was a benefit of them attending in the trainings we have been inviting them. Judith said ‘‘The training was good and we are thankful for the training because they have helped us to know new things in the field’’
She added to say, after the training her office started to increase assessment beyond physical features. ‘‘Good physical features of the learning place are very important however we have been forgetting to look deep on how children are learning, the core point of establishing a center’’ She said
Judith said they have invited private early learning centers to learn from other good perfuming centers in terms of legal guidelines and operational ways.
Furthermore, there were even centers which were closed because they didn’t meet the criteria and. Some were given deadlines to shape themselves in accordance to the stipulated guidelines.
TAHEA Mwanza is glad to see the impact of engaging local government officials in the activities, we believe the officers who were trained will spread the knowledge wherever they will be shifted to work. We are also thankful for the support the local government officials have been giving us and we promise to work hand in hand with them to achieve our vision.
