TAHEA is a professional National Non Government Organization (NGO’s) founded in March 1980. Its is registration no. is SO.6179 under the Tanzania Society Ordinance; it was regally registered in 1980, October the 14th. It was founded by 17 members (Home Economists) and; membership has grown to over 1,000 professionals in Tanzania. The organization is based in Mwanza as a regional chapter which is autonomous in its function.
As any other organization/Institution, TAHEA has its vision which is to see a society which is democratic and just, with improved living conditions sufficient in food and a strong economic base. The organization also has a mission that is to empower an individual, a family and the entire community in Tanzania, socially, economically, and with gender perspective through education, training, and information sharing and consulting. In order to achieve this, TAHEA uses the expertise of its professional members to facilitate development processes by networking and collaborating with other organizations with a similar vision and mission.
Child Care Center
TAHEA-Mwanza has an established office with the Regional Coordinator, Assistant Regional Coordinator and the Executive Committee. The program section includes the Project Officers and Field Officers who are in charge of projects as well as the day-to- today monitoring and evaluation of the project’s activities while TAHEA members are facilitators in their areas of profession. The organization also has support staff namely, Accounts Clerk, an Administrative Secretary, Secretary, Office Assistant, Driver and Security Guards.
TAHEA Mwanza is a professional nongovernmental organization which has grown as an organization and in service provision for the past 27 years. We have made a difference in hard to reach communities where our services have continued to narrow the gaps of abject poverty.
During the last 5 years, TAHEA Mwanza has been able to increase access to quality care, learning and development to 21,692 children aged 5-6 years in Ilemela and Nyamagana districts by promoting Pre Primary school education through community efforts with a community managed micro finance synergy.
We have been able to increase access to credit facilities for 31,138 farmers and increased the household income from 500/= per day to 3,500 per day in the targeted communities in Sengerema, Ukerewe, Nyamagana and Ilemela districts. TAHEA Mwanza has been able to improve household food security among 48,257 participating farmers from 1 – 2 meals per day to 2 – 3 meals per day in Sengerema, Ukerewe and Geita districts.
TAHEA Mwanza envisions a society which is well educated, with improved living standards, sufficient in food and with a strong economic base.
